Family Medicine Chief Residents’ Statement:

As the recently appointed Chief Residents of the Southwest Georgia Family Medicine Residency sponsored by Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital, we are very excited to let you know about our program.

Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital is the largest hospital serving southwest Georgia.  Thus, the residency program here in Albany offers residents a high volume and diverse patient population. The program is a community-based, solo primary care residency that thrives on teaching the core fundamentals of Family Medicine.  We take pride in the fact that after completing the program, our physicians are competent to practice anywhere, whether it is in a major city or in the most isolated of rural areas.

The residents and faculty collaborate to make residency training a wonderful, fun, and educational experience.  The program emphasizes and promotes teamwork in every aspect of the patient’s care.  Each day as a resident you will take on challenging patients with multiple disease processes.  You will learn how to treat these patients in a supportive and non-malignant educational environment, which we feel facilitates maximum learning.

Albany, Georgia is a great place to work, live, and raise a family, and this makes the years you spend here during residency that much more enjoyable!

If you are interested in our program or have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
